Chapter 12

The two months of Eid do not decrease

باب شَهْرَا عِيدٍ لاَ يَنْقُصَانِ

Narrated Abu ‘Abdullah, “Ishaq said that if Ramadan is of 29 days, even then it is complete (in its superiority); Muhammad said, “It will not happen that there will be any decrease in their number and superiority.”
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ وَإِنْ كَانَ نَاقِصًا فَهْوَ تَمَامٌ. وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ لاَ يَجْتَمِعَانِ كِلاَهُمَا نَاقِصٌ.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏.‏ وَحَدَّثَنِي مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ ‏‏.‏
"‏ شَهْرَانِ لاَ يَنْقُصَانِ شَهْرَا عِيدٍ رَمَضَانُ وَذُو الْحَجَّةِ ‏"
Abu Bakra:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The two months of `Id i.e. Ramadan and Dhul-Hijja, do not decrease (in superiority).
