Abu Huraira reported God's messenger as saying, "The Caliphate will be in Medina and the kingdom in Syria." `Umar reported God's messenger as saying, "I saw a pillar of light which came forth from under my head and spread till it settled in Syria."
Baihaqi transmitted the two traditions in Dala'il an-nubuwa.
